Objectives and Content

The aim of the subject is to focus on social media as a tool and ethical problems related to media in art and design.
Exploring digital interaction on various platforms.

The content can be within time-based issues relevant to society.

This subject is a collaboration with the department of Fine Art.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the subject the student should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:

Knowledge:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of the use of networks in relation to ethics and issues
  • Gain greater insight into use of digital platforms within art and design
  • Increase knowledge of use in own practice

Skills:

  • Be able to use various digital networks in an ethical manner
  • Be able to develop digital tools for own practice

General Competence:

  • Demonstrate professional conduct, timeliness, and clear communication
  • Work in a collaborative environment with supervisor and partners

Admission to the master's program in design.
Teaching and learning methods
Social media research methods as a foundation, with specific methods based on subject and supervisor. Lectures, group work, field work are examples of methods which can be used in this subject.

The syllabus will be ready by 01.07. for the autumn semester and 01.12. for the spring semester.

The subject will be evaluated every third year, according to UiB¿s quality system.
