Course description
Objectives and Content
A project will be specified and should be implemented under the guidance of an advisor from the department. Typically this is a programming project, but projects can also cover subjects like literature studies and modeling. Note that there is a limited number of projects. Available projects will be announced at Mitt UiB, at the INF319 site

On completion of the course the student should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge and skills:
Knowledge
The student can
- execute an advanced project in informatics by him/herself.
- evaluate and compare different methods and tools for solving a given problem.
- produce written documentation of the project in the form of a technical report.
- give an oral presentation of the project in which the student has participated.
Skills
The acquired skills will depend on the project that the student has participated in.

Required Previous Knowledge
At least 60 ECTS in Computer Science and at least 10 ECTS in mathematics. Valid admission to a Master's Degree Program in Informatics, or the PhD-program.

Access to the Course
Access to the course requires admission to a master programme at the Department of Informatics. The course is also open for PhD candidates at the same department.

Forms of Assessment
The written report and the oral presentation is given one combined grade.
