About the Institute
AHKR brings together archaeology, history, cultural studies and the study of religion—four long‑standing and closely related disciplines under one roof. The institute includes several interdisciplinary research groups and offers a wide range of courses.
Research
The research is organized into 13 thematic research groups. Areas of strength range from the Middle Ages and religion to global history and the Centre of Excellence, Centre for Early Sapiens Behaviour.

Studies
We offer bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD programmes in four disciplines, in addition to a teacher education programme. Students encounter research-based teaching, close academic supervision, and a varied range of courses.
