How your application is assessed
The assessment committee awards a score from 1 to 5 for each assessment criterion.
PhD Research Fellow positions
For PhD Research Fellow positions, the following criteria carry equal weight:
- Applicant: 33%
- Project: 33%
- Research environment: 33%
Postdoctoral fellow positions
For postdoctoral fellow positions, the weighting is:
- Applicant: 50%
- Project: 30%
- Research environment: 20%
Additional points for a research stay abroad
You may receive 0.5 additional points if you have planned a documented research stay abroad lasting at least six months. Include the stay in your project description and provide a formal invitation from the host institution.
Requirement for postdoctoral applicants
Postdoctoral applicants must change research environment between their PhD and postdoctoral periods.
Applications that do not meet this requirement will not be considered.

Limit on the number of candidates per supervisor
A supervisor or mentor may not simultaneously supervise more than four recruitment positions funded by the Faculty of Medicine. This limit includes both PhD Research Fellows and postdoctoral fellows. Applications will not be considered if the proposed supervisor already supervises four candidates funded through these schemes.
