The department council
Mandate, election and term
The council decides for itself which matters it considers and comments on, but these should primarily be of a principled nature. The council may comment, but all decisions are advisory and not binding. The council shall have an independent, advisory function in relation to the head of department. The head of department is not a member of the council, but shall normally attend the meetings, with the right to speak and make proposals. The head of department can also convene the department council to ask for advice on matters of a principled nature or matters that will have major significance for the department.
Matters the council should comment on include:
- Annual budget and accounts
- HSE action plan and HSE report
- Research report and other strategy and results documents that may be prepared by the department
- Any restructuring and reorganisation plans
Term, election and composition
The council's term follows the election period for the governing bodies at UiB, and election to the council and its composition shall take place in accordance with the election regulations (for elections to department boards) at UiB.
Department council from 1 August 2025 to 31 July 2029
At the Department of Biomedicine, elections have been held in groups A, B and C to the department council. The term is from 01.08.2025 to 31.07.2029 for groups A and C. For groups B and D, the term is one year at a time. The current representatives are members from 01.08.2025 to 31.07.2026.
The department council is an advisory body for the head of department.
