Studying at the Department of Clinical Science

Do you want to work with health, research and patient-centred knowledge? At K2, your teaching is closely linked to clinical practice and active academic communities.
We educate the doctors of the future and offer Master's and PhD programmes in medicine and pharmacy. K2 is responsible for 45 courses across the study programmes in medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, dental hygiene and nutrition — as well as specialised Master's courses in immunology and vaccinology.
Here you meet teachers who combine research and clinical work, and who bring up-to-date knowledge straight into their teaching. As a medical student, you can also take part in Vestlandslegen, where parts of your studies take place at hospitals in Stavanger, Haugesund and Førde. This gives you valuable experience from different parts of the health service, with close follow-up along the way.
Supervision of Master's students
The department offers supervision of Master's theses for other student groups, such as molecular biology, cell biology and nanoscience.

Quality and development in teaching
K2 will strengthen teaching quality through systematic evaluation, skills development and greater use of digital tools and new forms of teaching.
Recognition of outstanding teachers
The department will make good teachers visible and reward them through career incentives, merit schemes and award nominations.
Multi-campus model and practice-based teaching
K2 will contribute actively to the multi-campus model (Vestlandslegen) and strengthen regional collaboration and skills training for students.
Structure and collaboration in teaching organisation
Teaching will be organised and developed through a continued and strengthened UGLE structure (teaching areas) with good coordination and overview.
