Mandatory attendance
From June 11th, you can see time and place for mandatory attendance on the study programme webpage:
Failure to attend the first day of study may result in you losing your place on the programme. Mandatory attendance is only disregarded in special cases:
- documented illness
- other documented and particularly compelling reasons
Holidays and work are not valid reasons for absences. If you have lost your place on the programme, you must apply again next year.

Full degree Master students will not be joining the buddy programme, but can attend all joint social activities
For Exchange students
The University of Bergen and the Faculty of Medicine will hold information meetings for incoming exchange students attending. We look forward to see you there, and to make the start of your stay in Bergen as good as possible. The meetings are not mandatory, but we hope to see you there.
The buddy activities are organized by students and take place in the evenings. There are many different social activities planned, so there’s a good chance you’ll find something you'll enjoy! You can also opt out of certain activities if you need to. In addition, it's important to drink enough water, eat enough food, and get enough sleep. See programme below:

Welcome meeting for incoming exchange students and full degree students
The programme will introduce you to different aspects of being a student in Bergen. It is an excellent opportunity to meet other international students, as well as asking any questions you might have to UiB staff members. Attendance is not mandatory, but we highly encourage all new international students to participate.

As a part of your Welcome Programme, the Faculty of Medicine will hold a information meeting for incoming exchange students attending the faculty.
