Support for innovation
The Faculty of Medicine defines innovation broadly, and supports good ideas through several schemes and meeting places:
Meeting places and collaboration
Eitri healthcare incubator and innovation center (external link) focuses on commercialisation, entrepreneurship and industry collaboration. It also hosts an ecosystem of expertise and events aimed at innovation and the health industry.
Alrek Health Cluster (external link) brings together research, education and health services under one roof, with a focus on user involvement and on health service and social innovation.
In addition, important innovation takes place in collaborative projects with industry, Haukeland University Hospital and "Kunnskapskommunen". (external link)
The faculty's innovation adviser acts as a contact point for external partners, can engage with the research before the ideas are ready for development, give advice on opportunities and strategy, and connect you with other parts of the support system.
Support for idea development and innovation projects
VIS TTO services (external link). UiB research results are taken further through VIS, which is our TTO (Technology Transfer Office).
UiB Idé is our own support scheme for early-stage innovation ideas. Students and staff are encouraged to apply to UiB Idé.
If you are wondering whether other schemes are relevant to you, contact the innovation adviser.
