My PhD project examines the media use of Poles living in Norway, with a particular focus on how everyday life as a resident shapes patterns of media use and non-use. The main objective is to develop an in-depth understanding of how media usage is shaped in the context of migration and living in Norway, including differences related to trajectories, reasons for migration, and degrees of embeddedness in Norwegian, Polish, and transnational social worlds. Rather than foregrounding migration itself, the project focuses on lived, ordinary experiences of daily life and how these affect media engagement. Using primarily qualitative methods, especially in-depth interviews, the study investigates how participants navigate media in relation to social distinction, belonging, and everyday routines.
