Research
I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Digital Culture with the ALGOFOLK project, associated with the Centre for Digital Narrative, at the Department of Linguistic, Literary and Aesthetic Studies. I am also a member of the AC•SM research group.
I hold a PhD in Sociology from the University of Mumbai. Before joining UiB, I was a co-PI on the Audit4SG project funded by the Notre Dame-IBM Technology Ethics Lab. My work has traversed the disciplinary boundaries of anthropology/geography/sociology.
In my doctoral work as a UGC Junior and Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Sociology, University of Mumbai my dissertation intervened in the scalar debate while being empirically concerned with New Town, West Bengal. As research associate on the Learning Analytics in Higher Education in India project, I explored sociotechnical entanglements of data-intensive technologies and audit culture in higher education institutions. As an independent researcher, I was a co-PI on an auditing AI project, Audit4SG, funded by Notre Dame-IBM Technology Ethics Lab, University of Notre Dame, wherein we intervened in the discourse and practice of auditing AI, building on relational AI ethics. I also have a long-standing interest in cultural studies and debates on knowledge production and academic labour.
