Gjøri Marie Haugen is primarily a research assistant for the European Social Survey (ESS) in Norway, but also holds a 20% position as a scientific assistant at KODEM – Coordinated Online Panels for Research on Democracy and Government in Norway.
Research

Gjøri Marie contributes to the planning and implementation of the European Social Survey in Norway, focusing primarily on data dissemination and research communication. 

As part of KODEM, she will work on communication and community relations, contributing to increasing awareness of KODEM within research communities and sharing important research with the public.

Her research interests lie at the intersection of technology and democracy, with a particular focus on attitudes towards the use of artificial intelligence in public administration.

In her master's thesis, she conducted a survey experiment in the Norwegian Citizen Panel, where she examined perceptions of legitimacy related to the use of artificial intelligence as decision support in the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration. She received two master's scholarships in connection with her thesis in 2023: the Citizen Scholarship (Medborgerstipendet) and the Fritt Ord Scholarship. 

Previously, she also worked as a Teaching Assistant at the Department of Comparative Politics and as a research assistant on the NORCE project "Public Fairness Perceptions of Algorithmic Governance," led by Sveinung Arnesen.
