Short info

I research genetic epidemiology with a focus on mental health and women's health, particularly endometriosis. My work integrates multiple levels of biological markers (genetics, epigenetics, metabolomics) and phenotypic outcomes (diagnoses) to understand disease mechanisms and risk factors.
Research

I am conducting research under the supervision of Professor Stéphanie Le Hellard within the "Epigenetics and Multiomics" group. In addition, I collaborate with the Polimanti Lab at Yale University, led by Associate Professor Renato Polimanti.

My primary research focus is on gaining a deeper understanding of complex disorders, particularly mental health conditions and women's health, and exploring the connections between the human genome and phenome. By leveraging large-scale datasets from biobanks, I employ a variety of "-omics" approaches, including genomics, epigenomics, metabolomics, and phenomics, to investigate the genetic and environmental factors that contribute to these disorders.

As a medical doctor, my overarching goal is to use these findings to move closer to precision medicine, improving both the diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions and women's health through more personalized and targeted approaches.

Outreach

I have been actively engaged in science communication through interviews and articles in both Norwegian and international media. I am open to media inquiries to discuss my research and contribute to increased knowledge about genetic epidemiology, mental health, and women’s health.

Teaching

I have contributed to teaching and student supervision in various roles. I have led colloquiums in genetics for medical students and facilitated practical exams, such as the Formative Objective Structured Clinical Exam (FOSCE) at Stavanger University Hospital. From 2019 to 2022, I served as a Teaching Coordinator/Consultant at the Department of Global Public Health and Primary Care (University of Bergen), where I also mentored students, supervised assignments, and facilitated interprofessional workplace learning through TVEPS.

I have contributed to several peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals, focusing on genetic epidemiology, mental health, and women's health. My research spans genome-wide association studies, epigenetic and metabolomic analyses, and the integration of biobank data to explore the genetic and environmental factors underlying psychiatric disorders and endometriosis. I have published in journals such as Nature Genetics and JAMA Psychiatry, with studies covering anxiety disorders, endometriosis, environmental factors such as childhood trauma, polygenic risk scores, and the interplay between genetics and mental health conditions.
