Home exams and exam submissions

In a home exam, you will be given questions. For a submission that counts as an exam, it is usually more up to you what you want to write about. You do not need to be on campus to complete home exams and exam submissions, but you must have an internet connection where you’re located.

What are home exams and exam submissions?

It is allowed to use exam support material on home exams and exam submissions, as long as nothing else is stated in the course description. Although you can discuss the exam questions with others and browse online, there are still some requirements you must comply with, see the fact box below.

Home exam

A home exam has a start time and an end time, and it can last from a few hours to several weeks. Inspera is usually the exam system used to publish the exam questions and where you will submit your answers, but this may vary.  You will find specific information about home exams on the course page in Mitt UiB.

Exam submissions

An exam submission has a clear submission deadline, but it is up to you when to start working on it.

In this context, exam submission is used as a collective term for several types of assignment formats such as essays, reflection notes, podcasts, lab reports and semester assignments. All assignments are to be submitted by uploading what you have written or created, and this will be assessed by the examiner. The exam submission can be in written form, as an audio file (such as a podcast), or a video.
