Questionable conditions: Field work, research cruises, internships and group travels

A safe learning environment is UiB's responsibility. It is also our responsibility to implement measures if questionable conditions are discovered, even when this happens while you are on field work, research cruises, internships or group travels. Have you experienced anything that you consider questionable or worrying? Speak up.

Guidelines

Field work, research cruises, internships and group travels should be sound in terms of health, environment and safety.

UiB's guidelines for health, safety and environment  during fieldwork, research cruises and group travel apply to employees and students at UiB.

The guidelines describe the scope and responsibilities and tasks in connection with HSE in field work, research cruises and group travel, both in terms of preparation, implementation and follow-up work.

What does it mean to report questionable conditions?

  • unethical, illegal or criminal conduct
  • errors or deficiencies that may pose a risk to life or health 
  • that fellow students or employees are bullied, harassed or discriminated against in connection with their work at UiB.

Have you discovered any questionable conditions?

If you have discovered any objectionable circumstances that may be detrimental to UiB or individuals at UiB, we would like you to speak up.

Matters that involve critical matters are to protect you as a student and ensure that your inquiry is handled. Read more about the process when reporting serious critical matters in writing .


 

What happens when you report something?

All sensitive documents in the case will be kept confidential and your name will not be disclosed to anyone other than those necessary for further processing of the case.

Unsure about what to do and your rights?

The Student Ombudsman is an independent support person whose task is to provide students at the University of Bergen with legal advice and assistance in matters related to their study situation.
