Information for Researchers
Who can use PraksisNett?
Researchers at universities, research institutions, hospitals, public sector bodies, and private organisations and companies may apply to use PraksisNett. The project must involve research on patients in general practice. If you are a non‑Norwegian‑speaking researcher, we encourage you to collaborate with a Norwegian researcher in the field who can act as a liaison for the project. Your Norwegian counterpart may register interest in using PraksisNett on behalf of the project via this contact form.
PraksisNett can be used for, among other things:
- Clinical research projects (surveys, interviews, focus groups)
- Randomised controlled trials (RCTs)
- Data extraction (diagnoses, test results, medication use)
How to proceed
PraksisNett provides support in both planning and implementation. The process consists of three steps:
- Familiarise yourself with the criteria and procedures.
- Submit the contact form. Please note that the contact form must be completed by the project leader. The project leader must have research experience equivalent to at least a completed PhD.
- Submit a full application in consultation with the Regional Manager. If the project is considered feasible within PraksisNett, you will receive a link to the application form. Funding and all necessary approvals must be in place.
What does it cost?
Costs depend on the scope of the project. Please get in touch early for an estimate. We have separate pricing models for commercial users.
The costs of using PraksisNett are divided into two parts:
- Administrative costs, which cover advisory services, recruitment, facilitation for general practitioners, follow-up of GP practices, and operation and adaptation of the infrastructure.
- Compensation to general practitioners for participation in the project (identification/invitation of patients and, where applicable, clinical follow‑up).
Important information about PraksisNett and applications
PraksisNett is a research infrastructure that facilitates research. As an organisation, PraksisNett cannot prepare applications, act as a partner in research proposals, or provide letters of support—for example, for funding applications.
If you plan to use PraksisNett in a research project, this should be described in your application to the funding body. You must also include sufficient funding in your budget to cover costs associated with using PraksisNett.
Use of PraksisNett requires an application through our own application process. This also applies to research projects that have already received funding. All applications are assessed according to the applicable criteria before access may be granted.
