Center researcher Edda Bahlmann is appointed honorary professor dr. med. at Semmelweis University
Edda Bahlmann defended her PhD thesis in 2015 based on data from cardiac ultrasound examinations analysed in our Bergen Echocardiography Core Laboratory. Congratulations to Edda for this acknowledgement of excellence.

The PhD project was part of the international multicenter study Simvastatin Ezetimibe in Aortic Stenosis, where 1,873 people with aortic valve stenosis were followed for 5 years with annual echocardiography at 137 hospitals across Europe. All the ultrasound images were sent to the Bergen Echocardiographic Core Laboratory. Edda Bahlmann participated in the analysis of the ultrasound images. Her PhD project focused on how the main artery, the aorta, is important for assessing aortic valve stenosis, and not least how this affects women and men differently.
Eva Gerdts was her co-supervisor. Professor Kuck at the University of Hamburg was her main supervisor. Edda regularly visits the Center to give lectures and collaborate on new projects. She completed the preclinical part of her medical studies at Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary. Her old university has recognized her successful career and therefore awarded her this fantastic honour.
Edda Bahlmann is a board licensed specialist in cardiology and intensive care medicine and currently works as senior consultant at St. George Hospital in Hamburg.
