Autumn School: “Working for our world in troubled times”
“Working for our world in troubled times” Autumn School brings early-career researchers together for the engaged and deep inquiry essential for our times. What does it mean to want to make a difference in these times of crisis and social-ecological unraveling? How can we stay connected to our passion for life and justice, cultivating personal and collective resilience so we can “stay with the trouble” of our times?
These are key questions we will explore together in the “Working for our world in troubled times”, the autumn school between 5th-11th of October 2026 in Nordhordland UNESCO Biosphere Region in Western Norway. This course is offered as an invitation to resource ourselves as we navigate our way into an uncertain future in these challenging times, acknowledging the inseparability of our own well-being with that of the wider Earth. The course is also an invitation to deepen our gratitude for being active participants even amidst these difficult times, and to more deeply understand the contribution of a single life of integrity woven into the tapestry of our collective story.
Together for a week we will explore these questions in a beautiful mountain cabin in Western Norway. This school is hosted by the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Heritage and Environmental Management and the CeSAM Centre for Sustainable Area Use of the University of Bergen and is funded by the Norwegian Research Council.
