I am working to elucidate the fine-scale genetic structure of the Norwegian population using a large set of imputed genotype data from non-urban birth cohort samples across Norway. The data comes from the Norwegian Mother, Father and Child Cohort Study (MoBa). Population history across space and time will be studied by comparing the Norwegian data with similar genotype data from modern and ancient DNA samples from Europe and northwest Asia, allowing the identification of admixture events. To place the Norwegian genetic analysis in an interdisciplinary context, the genetic structuring will also be compared and correlated with population patterns drawn from archaeological and linguistic data.
