The University’s Duties and Responsibilities Regarding 2-Year Master’s Programs:
- Assess the recognition of relevant prior education
- Ensure that the master’s programs offered are academically challenging, rewarding, and allow for academic focus and development
- Provide clear information about the master’s program, supervision, and contractual matters
- Award a diploma, including an international "Diploma supplement", when you have completed and met the requirements for your degree
- Actively include you in an academic community with supervisor(s) and academic environment
- Offer opportunities to participate in relevant seminars
- Provide individual instruction and supervision
- Ensure that the intentions of the master’s contract are met, including by ensuring that the supervisor and department fulfill their contractual obligations
- Maintain routines that make it easy to get help if something happens.
- Inform you about leave of absence and attendance policies
The university expects that you as a student to
- comply with applicable laws and regulations
- confirm Part II of your education plan for the master’s program in Studentweb, including entering into a master’s contract with the faculty, a supervision agreement with the department, and completing semester registration
- fulfill your contractual rights and obligations (education plan, supervision contract), including applying for leave if you plan to take a break from your studies
The university recommends that you as a student
- take advantage of the opportunity for focused academic work as a master’s student
- be active and take initiative with your supervisor and academic environment
- begin working on your research question, theory, and methodology for your thesis as early as possible
- seek help from the department management if you encounter problems in your master’s work that cannot be solved in collaboration with your supervisor
