This declaration is part of UiB’s overall work to ensure a high-quality learning environment. The aim is to provide a sufficient number of student workspaces that are well-designed, located in a healthy physical environment, and situated close to your academic department, including lecture halls and other teaching spaces.
The term student workspace refers to all university areas intended for academic activities outside of organised teaching. This includes all types of reading rooms, computer labs, group rooms, study areas in libraries, and similar spaces.
The university is responsible for:
- Good air quality, cleanliness, and comfortable temperature
Responsibility: Estate and Facilities Management Division - Ergonomically designed chairs, desks, and other furniture
Responsibility: Faculties - Access to good break areas, such as student canteens
Responsibility: Faculties and the Estate and Facilities Management Division - Universal design of all student workspaces by 2025, with accessible workspaces at every faculty
Responsibility: Faculties and the Estate and Facilities Management Division - Individual accommodations for students with special needs
Responsibility: Faculties, Estate and Facilities Management Division, and Division of Student and Academic Affairs - Quiet zones or reading rooms at all faculties
Responsibility: Faculties - Adequate access to power sockets and wireless internet at all student workspaces
Responsibility: Estate and Facilities Division and IT Division - Printers and desktop computers located close to all student workspaces
Responsibility: Faculties and IT Division - Up-to-date information on available student workspaces and guidelines for their use
Responsibility: Faculties and Division of Student and Academic Affairs
