The learning environment at UiB should promote creativity, learning, employability, health, and well-being. It should also be a place where both staff and students are respected, cared for, and given responsibility. - To provide a physical study environment that meets the needs of all students.
- To ensure there are enough workspaces, including for new students.
- To have clear procedures for handling complaints, and for reporting deviations, accidents, or near misses (external link).
As a student, the university expects you to
- familiarise yourself with and respect the rules for using university facilities and equipment, including reading rooms, computer labs, and IT systems.
The university recommends that you
- show a positive attitude and contribute to maintaining a good learning environment, both socially and materially.
- take part in student-led activities, such as clubs, societies, and organisations.
- speak up if you experience or witness any personally offensive behaviour.
- contact the student ombudsperson or someone you trust if a harassment situation does not stop.
The university’s responsibilities regarding equality and harassment:
- To take equality work seriously.
- To provide support systems for dealing with any issues related to equality and harassment.
- To promote ongoing awareness and foster respectful, trusting relationships between students and staff.
