Plenary discussion
Speaker profiles:
Eva Gerdts is Professor of Cardiology and Head of the Center for Research on Heart Disease in Women. She is a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters and a pioneer in research on heart disease in women. Her research has primarily focused on how hypertension leads to heart disease in women. Her lecture will provide an update on why hypertension is particularly harmful to women.
Senior consultant PhD Grethe Åstrøm Ueland is a specialist in endocrinology and works at the Endocrinology Section at Haukeland University Hospital. Her research focuses on autonomous cortisol secretion from the adrenal glands—a condition that is highly prevalent, especially among women with hypertension and obesity, and often leads to poorly controlled blood pressure. New treatment options are currently being developed, and her lecture will present this background for a planned clinical treatment study.
