Gender studies – how can it contribute to a modern understanding of women's health
Center for Research on Women's Heart Disease: Seminar with Associate Professor Kari Jegerstedt, Monday 19 February 2024.
Associate Professor Kari Jegerstedt is the director of the Center for Women's and Gender Research at the University of Bergen (UiB). The center holds a cross-faculty responsibility for promoting gender research at UiB and coordinates, among other initiatives, the interdisciplinary research group Foundational issues in gender and sexuality studies.
Her academic background is in literary studies, with a particular focus on linguistic representations and interpretations of the significance of the body, gender, and sexuality—both in Scandinavian and postcolonial (especially South African) literature and more broadly. In recent years, her work has focused on transfemininity and psychoanalysis, as well as queer theory and diversity initiatives at UiB. Foundational questions and the understanding of gender and sexuality are central to all her work, both as a researcher and educator.
At the center seminar on 19 February 2024 from 12:00 to 13:00, she will give a lecture titled:
Gender studies – how can it contribute to a modern understanding of women's health
The seminar will take place in rooms 8.1–8.2, 8th floor of the Laboratory Building and is open to all interested parties.
