I am interested in molecular factors associated with cardiometabolic health, ranging from classical genetics to epigenetics. Currently I am part of Stefan Johansson´s group https://www4.uib.no/finn-ansatte/Stefan.Johansson.
My research is currently structured around three ongoing research lines:
- Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) of complex traits, which represent my main focus and are closely linked to my current position at the Mohn Research Center for Diabetes Precision Medicine. For this end we use the extremely well characterized MoBa (Den norske mor, far og barn-undersøkelsen) cohort (https://www.fhi.no/op/studier/moba).
- Epigenome-Wide Association Studies (EWAS), primarily developed during my PhD at Oslo University Hospital (Oslo Universitetssykehus), and which continue to evolve through ongoing collaborations. For these analyses we use the EPIPREG cohort (10.1371/journal.pone.0256158)
- Candidate gene studies in underrepresented populations, with a particular focus on individuals of Mayan ancestry, conducted in collaboration with the Regional Research Center Dr. Hideyo Noguchi at the Autonomous University of Yucatán (UADY) in Mexico
