Global Challenges (GSU) is one of three priority areas where the University of Bergen aims to build on the university’s unique position to promote academic mobilisation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
GSU invites applications for initiatives that strengthen cooperation across faculties, foster collaboration with institutions outside UiB, and help enhance UiB’s profile as a university strongly engaged in global issues.
At least two faculties must be involved in the collaboration, and the activity must relate to the theme of inequality, in one or more of its many dimensions.
Eligible activities
- Events that highlight UiB’s engagement in global collaboration and efforts related to global societal challenges
- Visiting scholar stays at UiB that include open events focusing on global challenges
Support for visiting scholars may cover travel and accommodation. Funding cannot be used for personal stipends or other direct financial support to the invited scholar.
Applications will be assessed based on:
- The scope of global collaboration involved in the activities
- Relevance for understanding global and complex societal challenges
- The extent to which the activity helps make UiB visible within global challenges
- Effective use of the allocated resources
- A budget clearly outlining costs and how these are coordinated with any other funding sources
