The University of Bergen

UiB is Western Norway's most important knowledge institution. We are an internationally oriented, research-intensive comprehensive university. The University conducts research, artistic development work and education across a wide range of disciplines.

Faculties, departments and divisions

The University of Bergen has eight faculties, including the museum, 40 departments, in addition to several divisions and units. In spring 2025 there were more than 20,000 students.

Strategy

The 2023–2030 strategy sets out the University's visions and ambitions. UiB shall be among Europe's leading universities, internationally recognised for high quality in research and education. As a societal institution, we shall contribute to sustainable and democratic development and be an attractive and inclusive place to study and work.
