Industry collaboration

UiB offers continuing and further education as well as doctoral programmes that can suit your organisation.

• Industry (external link) and Public Sector (external link) PhDs – Through these schemes, candidates can complete their doctoral training while employed by a company or public sector organisation. The Research Council of Norway can cover up to 50% of the standard fellowship rate. Contact the relevant academic department directly to discuss a PhD tailored to your competence needs! 
• Online studies and further education – Do you need to update your professional knowledge or acquire new skills? We offer everything from individual short courses to full master's degrees. 
• Micro-courses – Gain new skills by taking one of our micro-courses in digitalisation and innovation. These courses are free of charge and award 2.5 ECTS credits. They are designed to be taken alongside your job.

There are many ways to collaborate with UiB: 

Sponsored research: Companies contribute funding or other resources to research projects for which the university holds academic responsibility and owns the results. In many cases, partners may gain access to the project results.

Contract research: Companies purchase specific research or studies to answer a particular question. In many cases, the client owns the project results. The research is conducted at market rates. 

Collaboration agreements: UiB has several long-term agreements for research collaboration across various fields. These are usually based on the sponsored research model. 

Intellectual property rights: UiB retains ownership of the various results arising from the projects. In many cases, project results are published, and partners may be granted access or usage rights to them where feasible.
