Course description
Objectives and Content
The course has 3 main objectives
1. Give the student an insight into new original research publications, both with relation to own research project but also in broader context.
2. Train the students in transferable skills, e.g. presentation techniques, critical reading and thinking, scientific discussion and argumentation.
3. Interaction, network building and collaboration with fellow students (horizontal interaction/supervision).

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
After completing the course the student should have:
- Obtained a deeper insight into the literature related to own research field
- Received knowledge in various other research fields, by studying original frontline publications.
Skills
- Improved training in skills like presentation technique, verbally presenting scientific information, critically thinking and reading scientific publications, being able to discuss and comment
in a scientific manner.
- Building up competence in communication and strategic network building among fellow students.
General Competence
- Improve ways of thinking, communicating and interacting in a scientific manner.
- Identify relevant ethical issues and perform own research after best practices.

Part of the formal training of the PhD program.
Semester of Instruction
This is a continuous course with no start nor finish, it runs the whole year with short breaks during summer holiday and at Christmas.
- 1 hour seminar every week, running continuous during both the spring and autumn semester.

Required Previous Knowledge
- The student should be at graduate or post-graduate level (have a BSc or equivalent).
- No knowledge immunology is needed, but advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of human biology.

Access to the Course
None, the student may register at any time.
PhD-students specifically, but all other students, post docs, researchers are encouraged to participate.
Forms of Assessment
None - Grading: Pass/Fail
To fulfill the requirements for the course, the candidate needs to participate active in the seminars for more than 2 semesters to pass.
