This will be the seventh consecutive year that UiB has organised a cleanup event as part of Norway’s National Beach Cleanup Week. The photo shows participants during a previous cleanup operation on Lisle Lyngøy, just outside Bergen.

On 17 September, the University of Bergen invites students and staff to take part in a plastic cleanup initiative in the stunning Hardanger region. Sign up now to secure one of the places on the boat to Rosendal.

On Thursday, 17 September, the UiB Plastic Network and partners are organising a coastal cleanup effort outside Rosendal in Hardanger. We will travel aboard the fast ferry Rødne Fjord Cruise, departing from Strandkaiterminalen in Bergen at 08:50 and returning to the same location at 16:20.

When we arrive in Rosendal, another boat will take us a short boat trip to one of the small islands outside of Rosendal, where the plastic cleanup will take place.

Please note: Places on the boat are limited, so we encourage you to register as soon as possible (external link) to secure your spot.

All participants will receive a free lunch during the trip.

In addition to making a meaningful contribution to protecting nature and wildlife, UiB’s cleanup event offer a great opportunity to get to know fellow students, colleagues, and organisations working to address environmental and climate challenges.

This year, you will also have the chance to enjoy a free day trip by boat through scenic coastal and fjord scenery to Rosendal where we will experience the breathtaking Hardangerfjord at close range.
