About the Centre

Centre for the Study of the Sciences and the Humanities (SVT) is an interdisciplinary and interfaculty centre at the UiB with a responsibility for research, teaching and dissemination within the field of "theory of science".

Research

SVT has a broad research profile with a focus on critical reflection on the relationship between science and society. The Centre coordinates and participates in research projects on the ethical and societal aspects of science and technology.

Do you want to work or do research here?

Teaching

The SVT is responsible for teaching theory of science and ethics to PhD candidates at the university. We also coordinate UiB's interdisciplinary Master in Sustainability, and we teach the bachelor-level course Crucial Issues in Science and Society.
