Research

Gyri Teien Haugland is Professor at Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Bergen in Norway. Her research interest is molecular fish immunology and evolution of the immune system. Her research focus on host-pathogen interactions and unravelling how key players of the innate immune system can shape adaptive immune responses. Such knowlegde make the basis for development of immune prophylactic measures like vaccines and use of immunostimulats.

She works with lumpfish, Atlantic salmon, Ballan wrasse and cod.

Outreach

For Gyri Teien Haugland, it is important to communicate research. Not only to the academia, but also to the aquaculture industry and to the general public. She has held several oral presentations at national and international meetings and seminars, and written several articles in fish farmining magazines, online magazines and newpapers.

In 2016, she won the Brain Power Award -which is a price for highlight the importance of R& D work - and the impact it has for society. She was also invited to the Christie Conference at the Univeristy of Bergen in 2018.
