My PhD project investigates the Apostolic Penitentiary in the Roman Curia during the 15th and 16th centuries. The dissertation particularly focuses on how the Penitentiary handled petitions for absolution from Spanish Christians who had previously been persecuted or condemned by the Spanish Inquisition.
