Work

I work at the IT department at the University of Bergen, responsible for the operation and development of Linux-based web services. My tasks include scripting with PHP and Bash, managing Apache web servers, and handling databases such as MariaDB and PostgreSQL. I also work with content management systems like WordPress, MediaWiki, and Machform.

Currently, I am particularly involved in modernizing and automating development and deployment processes, using Docker for containerization and CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and deployment. I utilize UiB’s internal RAIL Kubernetes cluster as a platform to deploy and run our applications.

I also have experience from international support projects, including an IT initiative at Mnazi Mmoja Hospital in Zanzibar, where we wanted to provide IT equipment and expertise.

Previously, I have participated in exchange projects in Tanzania through Fredskorpset in collaboration with the Department for International Cooperation (AIS) at Haukeland University Hospital.

Among the projects I have contributed to are NORPART and ORAL EURASIA. A technical highlight was establishing an “online microscope” using Cytomine, running on virtual Ubuntu servers with Docker. Cytomine is an advanced digital microscopy platform,
