Research
My postdoctoral project, conducted within the MUCS project, investigates the experiences of individuals with limited digital technology proficiency. In a society where many services are digitalised, it is important to understand how such users, particularly older adults, organise their daily lives, access information, and participate in societal activities. This research explores the experience and implications of being on the verge of digital exclusion. I employ ethnographic methods to gain insight into the perspectives of those who are marginalised by ongoing digital societal developments.
In 2022, I defended my doctoral thesis, ‘Social network sites as arenas for public discourse: perception, participation and experience’, which examined how social media is experienced as public arenas and how users perceive both their own and others’ participation. This research was affiliated with the MeCIn project, which culminated in the publication of Informed Citizens? Media Use, Democracy and Public Attachment.
