Research
  • Agrarian and rural archaeology/cultural landscapes
  • Urban archaeology, especially urban structur and material culture
  • Gender issues

Thematically my research has concentrated on rural societies and urbanisation in the Middle Ages - landscapes, structure and materiality. It focuses on Western Norway and the medieval town of Bergen, but also has a wider geographical perspective - regionally, nationally and internationally. In several studies gender perspectives are included as an integral part.
