Research
I'm a medical doctor, specialist in psychiatry, PhD in epidemiology from 2014 at UiB. My current positions are associate professor in Elderly Medicine, Centre for Elderly and Nursing Home Medicine, and senior doctor at NKS Olaviken gerontopsychiatric hospital. From 2019-2022 I was a post-doc affiliated with the LIVE@Home.Path Innovating the clinical pathway for home-dwelling people with dementia and their families. A mixed-method randomized controlled trial - Prosjektbanken (forskningsradet.no), which applied a stepped-wedge design to explore if a multicomponent intervention could improve rescource utilization and burden for caregivers to people with dementia residing at home. Toghether with PhD candidate Marie Hidle Gedde, I investigated the impact of the intervention and the Covid-19 pandemic on behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia.
From august 2022 I'm the PI of the DARK.DEM trial Virtual darkness and digital phenotyping in specialized and municipal dementia care: The DARK.DEM randomized controlled trial. - Prosjektbanken (forskningsradet.no), in which we will explore if blue light depleted evening light can alliviate agitation and other behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia. We will also deveop digital biomarkers for agitation by correlating data from smartwatches with data from traditional psychometric scales.
I'm a menber of the research board at IGS, rund the research shool in global public health and primary care Forskerskole i samfunnsmedisinske fag | Institutt for global helse og samfunnsmedisin | UiB and is currently the head of Faglig Forum, Alrek Health Care Cluster Faglig forum - Alrek (alrekhelseklynge.no).
