Research
My research interests span from processes in physical oceanography to design of future energy systems.
Outreach
I often take part in seminars and events ranging from small clubs to governmental conferences.
Teaching
I supervise master and PhD students in oceanography and energy.
Recently I have contributed lectures in the courses:
- GEOF232 Practical Oceanography and Meteorology
- ENERGI200 Energy Resources and Use
- ENERGI210 Energy Physics and Technology
- VIT212 Climate - What do we know? What should we do? (In Norwegian)
- GEOF 339 Advanced Ocean Dynamics
I also have taught GEOF 231 Operational Oceanography (no longer offered; followed by new course GEOF232), GEOF 338 Polar Oceanography, GEOF 213 Dynamics of the Atmosphere and Ocean and related earlier courses.
Projects
EU project FixO3 - Fixed point Open Ocean Observatory network http://www.fixo3.eu/; I contribute as WP leader
EU project AtlantOS - Optimising and Enhancing the Integrated Atlantic Ocean Observing Systems https://www.atlantos-h2020.eu/; I contribute to the glider component
Norwegian Research Council project NACO - Norwegian Atlantic Current Observatory http://naco.gfi.uib.no/- a national research infrastructure providing gliders; I am responsible
Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission IOC of UNESCO http://ioc-unesco.org/ - I am currently the elected chair (coordination through Institute of Marine Research)
Energilaboratoriet
Jeg har vært pådriver for å etablere Energilaben, https://www.uib.no/gfi/energi
