Conditions to request an external examination at UiB
- You must apply to take the external exam at least 4 weeks prior to the exam date.
- You must apply through the following form: Request to sit an external exam at UiB. (external link)
- You must be enrolled as an active student at UiB at the time of the examination.
- The examination must be held during regular UiB working hours and must start and end at the same time as others UiB exams, normally between 09:00 and 15:45 Norwegian time.
- The exam papers should be sent electronically to the Division of Student and Academic Affairs at eksamen@uib.no at least three days before the exam day.
- The Division of Student and Academic Affairs will normally send the answer sheets by email to the student’s home institution. A courier may be used if necessary.
UiB and the Division of Student and Academic Affairs is committed to the following
- Processing incoming requests for external examinations.
- Finding an appropriate examination location and invigilator.
- Working together with the student’s home institution and arranging the dispatch of the examination papers
- Informing the student of the time and place of the examination.
- Receiving the examination papers sent by the student’s home institution.
- Sending the answer sheet to the home institution.
Students' responsibilities
- It is the student's responsibility to apply and submit the required application at least 4 weeks before the exam date.
- It is the student's responsibility to provide the Division of Student and Academic Affairs all necessary information about their contact information in their home institution.
- It is the student's responsibility to stay informed about the examination and its practicalities.
- It is the student's responsibility to make sure that the Division of Student and Academic Affairs eksamen@uib.no has received the examination papers no later than 3 days prior to the exam and, if necessary, send a reminder to the home institution if the papers have not arrived.
Note: Examinations cannot be held on public holidays in Norway.
