Welcome ceremony

A new academic year is about to begin at the University of Bergen, and we are excited to welcome both new and returning students back to the start of the semester at this year's welcome ceremony.

Welcome to the opening of the 2025–2026 academic year!

During the welcome ceremony, we celebrate the beginning of a new academic year for our new and returning students and staff.

We hope to see as many of you as possible at the welcome ceremony!

This year’s ceremony will take place on Monday, 11 August at 10:00 at Muséplass. The ceremony is open to everyone.

The venue opens for admission at 09:00, and we recommend arriving well in advance of the ceremony start at 10:00. Dress according to the weather. Umbrellas may obstruct the view for others and create crowding. We therefore recommend rainwear if needed.

Programme

The ceremony will take place from 10:00 to approximately 10:45.
