Claim your UiB user account

After you have been accepted to UiB, you will be able to claim your user account. This account gives you access to UiB's services and IT platforms.

When to claim your account 

After you have been accepted to UiB, you will receive an automatically generated email about your user account. The user account gives you access to UiB’s services and IT systems.

If you do not receive this email, you should check the spam filter on your email.

How to claim your account 

To claim the user account, click on the link in the email and follow the steps. To verify the account, you will be asked to click on "Send verification code on SMS". This SMS will be sent to the number you provided when applying to UiB. 

In the process of claiming your UiB user account, you will receive your UiB username and password. When you log in to one of UiB's services with your user account, you will be notified that you must set up multi-factor authentication (external link) within 14 days. 

What happens if I don't receive an SMS?

Should you not receive the SMS, you can choose the link "Wrong number, or cannot use mobile" to have the verification code read to you by an automatic phone call. 

In the automatic generated email from our service UiBtilgang, you are asked to complete the activation at password.uib.no (external link). Choose English in the top left corner and go to Forgot password – Cannot use ID-Porten.  When you set a new password, you must enter the email address you used when you applied to UiB. Thereafter you will receive a new email with further instructions.
