General practitioners are a crucial target group for knowledge sharing for the Center for Research on Heart Disease in Women. This time, Center Researcher Ester Kringeland contributed to Solstrandkurset 2025 by updating GPs on sex differences in heart failure, focusing on risk factors, types of heart failure that develop, and recommended treatment strategies.
Women with heart failure are referred less often than men with the same condition to cardiologists and specialized treatments that can improve daily functioning and long-term prognosis.
The update was very well received, and the session sparked a productive dialogue with the attending GPs about one of the most common heart conditions affecting women. In fact, more women than men live with heart failure in Norway.
Solstrandkurset is part of the Norwegian Medical Association’s continuing education program for general practitioners.
