At the national conference on women’s health research in Bergen, organized by DRIV, our researchers Ester Kringeland, Hilde Halland, and Aistėja Šelmytė-Besusparė contributed important presentations highlighting new knowledge on heart disease in women.

Postdoctoral fellow and senior consultant Ester Kringeland presented findings from the Hordaland Health Study on the association between gingival inflammation and blood pressure in older women and men with periodontitis.

Postdoctoral fellow and senior consultant Hilde Halland shared results from the FATCOR study, demonstrating how progressive inflammation in the proteomic profile may contribute to increased blood pressure in individuals with obesity.

PhD candidate and cardiologist Aistėja Šelmytė-Besusparė gave a lecture on sex hormone profiles and cardiovascular organ damage in women with overweight and obesity. She showed how hormonal changes can affect cardiac structure and function and emphasized the need for more individualized treatment based on gender-specific risk factors.

We are proud of our researchers for putting women’s heart health on the agenda! Congratulations also to DRIV for an outstanding conference.
