He has a Master of Public Health and a PhD in health and care science from UiT The Arctic University of Norway, and broad experience from leading national and international institutions as a postdoctoral researcher.
He primarily has expertise in epidemiology, microbiome research, machine learning and interdisciplinary project management in research on respiratory diseases, tuberculosis, asthma, cardiovascular diseases and mental health in different population groups. Experience in planning and conducting cross-sectional, cohort, and interventional studies, including study protocol development, quality assurance, and systematic data collection. Solid expertise in the analysis of data from large population surveys and health registries, including work on risk factors for chronic diseases and analysis of health outcomes in longitudinal cohorts.
At the Centre, he will initially be part of the collaborative project between the Centre and the Dental Health Service's Competence Centre Vestland, with a focus on looking at the connection between oral health, especially periodontitis, and preclinical cardiovascular disease.
In parallel, he will contribute with analytical capacity in the Obesity-associated cardiovascular dysfunction (FATCOR) study, where we use proteomics data to strengthen the understanding of underlying molecular and inflammatory mechanisms associated with obesity-associated cardiovascular dysfunction.
