Strong Presence at Europe’s Largest Cardiology Congress
Researchers from the Center for Research on Women’s Heart Disease received significant attention at the European Society of Cardiology Congress (ESC) 2025. New findings were presented, key scientific discussions were highlighted – and one of our postdoctoral fellows was honored with the award for Best Abstract.

The Center for Research on Women’s Heart Disease contributed several key presentations at ESC Congress 2025.
Postdoctoral fellow Ester Kringeland presented new data on the association between periodontal disease and blood pressure in older women and men.
Postdoctoral fellow Hilde Halland received the Best Abstract Award for her presentation titled “Progressive inflammation in proteomic profile underlies increased blood pressure in obese individuals.”
Our PhD candidates Aisteja Selmyte-Besuspare and Christian E. Berg-Hansen, along with research-track medical student Rasmus Bach Sindre, delivered strong presentations, each followed by engaging scientific discussions.
In addition, postdoctoral fellow Ester Kringeland and Grieg Foundation Associate Professor Helga Midtbø were appointed Fellows of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) – a prestigious recognition of their scientific achievements and professional contributions.
Professor Eva Gerdts and Associate Professor Dana Cramariuc also played important roles as chairs of several scientific sessions. Gerdts delivered an inspiring lecture on risk and symptoms of heart failure in women, which drew considerable interest among attendees.
