On Monday, 2 February the Centre for Deep Sea Research is hosting a side event on the Arctic Deep Sea.

The event will take place at The Edge hotel in Tromø as part of the Arctic Frontiers 2026 conference. (For the full program, click here: https://arcticfrontiers.com/conference-program/ (external link)

Steffen Leth Jørgensen, Ida Helene Steen, Mari Heggernes Eilertsen, Eoghan P. Reeves and Pedro Ribeiro from the Centre for Deep Sea Research will be part of the event called The Arctic Deep Sea: Knowledge, Gaps and Next Steps which runs from 13:30 to 15:00.

The event will be introduced by the University of Bergen's Rector Margareth Hagen.

The Arctic deep sea hosts some of the most remote and least studied environments on Earth. This series of short talks followed by a Q&A discussion will focus on highlighting current deep-sea knowledge and also identifying important knowledge gaps, with a view to determining the next steps.
