The 2025 cruise marks both the conclusion of a multi-year scientific effort under the GoNorth initiative [gonortharctic.no (external link)] and the beginning of a new phase in Norwegian Arctic research. Building directly on the experience, methods and results from GoNorth and The Nansen Legacy, a new long-term programme has now been launched: Arctic Ocean 2050 / Polhavet 2050. This marks an important milestone for long-term Arctic ocean research — and a strong foundation for the next generation of scientific expeditions to the rapidly changing polar seas.
To document the final expedition, Daniel Albert, who has written daily dispatches from all GoNorth cruises, compiled a short film. In the opening of the video, the Centre director and one of the cruise leaders Steffen Leth Jørgensen highlights many of the scientific projects that were carried out during the cruise.
The film was produced by NORCE in collaboration with the GoNorth team.
