Partners

The partners in the Medieval Cluster each have one seat in the steering group. The representative is appointed by their own institution and sits on the steering group by virtue of their leading role within that institution. The Directorate for Cultural Heritage has, as a directorate, chosen not to take part in the steering group. The steering group meets at least once a semester.

Mandate for the steering group

The steering group shall:

• Provide strategic direction for the cluster and adopt strategy plans
• Anchor the cluster's vision, goals and activities within their own organisation
• Contribute to promoting and making the cluster visible nationally and internationally
• Approve new partners in the cluster
• Discuss ideas for major initiatives in the cluster

All the partners are part of the cooperation group (previously called the working group). The representatives are appointed by their own institution. The cooperation group meets at least twice a semester.

Mandate for the cooperation group

The cooperation group shall:

• Be a link between the cluster and their own organisation, and ensure mutual flow of information about current activities and projects
• Put forward and follow up input for joint cluster activities
• Contribute to making the cluster and its activities visible
• Support cooperation projects run by the cluster where relevant
• Contribute to support measures for early-career researchers

The interdisciplinary academic group of 2-4 people is part of the administration of the Medieval Cluster. The group meets about once a week together with the cluster coordinator.

Mandate for the academic group

The academic group shall:

• Ensure academic anchoring within various research communities at UiB
• Plan and coordinate the implementation of projects and initiatives
• Prepare matters for the cooperation group
• Prepare proposals for long-term and strategic priorities for the steering group and follow up adopted strategy plans
• Facilitate joint, interdisciplinary and cross-institutional research projects

The cluster coordinator acts as a link between the various groups in the cluster, including between the cluster and the Faculty of Humanities and the rectorate. The cluster coordinator meets about once a week together with the academic group.

The cluster coordinator shall:

• Attend to development and operational tasks for the Medieval Cluster
• Contribute to initiating, facilitating and promoting cooperation between the various partners
• Plan and carry out projects and initiatives together with the academic group and partners in the cluster

The steering group sets the strategic direction and consists of leaders from the partner institutions. The pro-rector leads the group.

An interdisciplinary academic group is linked to the cluster. The academic group draws up the academic direction for the cluster and provides input and advice to the cooperation group. The aim is to promote research and research-based activity linked to both public engagement and education.
