The EXPLAIN-IT (external link) (Exposome and Prevention of Lung Diseases, An International Interdisciplinary Translational Network) project gathered more than 100 participants at its launch, marking the start of an ambitious ERS CRC that aims to advance understanding of the exposome in relation to chronic lung diseases (CLDs) and to support international collaboration across research disciplines.
From the Greenness, Air Pollution and health (GAP) research group, professor Ane Johannessen is one of the overall chairs of the project and leads Work Package 2 (WP2): Data inventory, which focuses on evaluating published data on the exposome in CLDs and creating an inventory to enhance knowledge and support the work of other WPs.
Researcher Shanshan Xu is project manager, responsible for communication, coordination, and the project website. As part of this role, she also designed the project logo. In addition, she is also involved in WP2 and will be first author on a systematic review assessing the current evidence on the exposome and chronic lung diseases.
Through the involvement of Johannessen and Xu, GAP contributes actively to EXPLAIN-IT’s future activities and to international collaboration in exposome research.
