The seminar, themed Exploring a Low-Carbon Future, brought together participants from both institutions as well as NORCE for an inspiring morning of academic presentations and idea exchange.
The delegation from Nanjing University was led by Dr. Yuan Zhou, Head of the Kuang Yaming Honors School, who presented the school’s vision and commitment to excellence in education and research.
From UiB, PhD students and researchers from three departments at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences participated: the Department of Physics and Technology, the Department of Chemistry, and the Department of Mathematics. They shared insights into ongoing research in low-carbon technologies, energy storage, hydrogen as an energy carrier, and advanced modeling and simulation.
Throughout the seminar, various perspectives on energy transition and sustainability were presented, with particular focus on carbon capture, future energy carriers, and regional cooperation. A common thread across the presentations was a strong commitment to developing knowledge and technologies that can contribute to a greener future.
Following the academic program, lunch was served, providing participants with the opportunity to network, discuss potential future collaborations, and share experiences across disciplines and national borders.
An Important Step Toward a Low-Carbon Future
The seminar marked not just a meeting between two universities, but also a shared commitment to finding solutions to global energy challenges. The day stood as a testament to how academic collaboration can contribute to a more sustainable future.
The visit was a valuable contribution to UiB’s international profile and an inspiration for further cooperation. We look forward to more such meaningful encounters!
