Since 2005, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology (NT) has annually awarded an HSE prize for outstanding work in health, safety, and the environment. The purpose of the prize is to highlight good examples of systematic and goal-oriented HSE efforts within the faculty.

Effective practical initiatives

Department Engineer Kristoffer Eikehaug has been an important contributor and driving force in strengthening the commitment to health, safety, and environment (HSE) work, and had the honour of accepting the award on behalf of the group.

At the faculty’s annual HSE seminar, Eikehaug shared insights into the group’s approach, including the introduction of a clear zone system in the laboratories, improved signage and organization of safety equipment, and a focus on student inclusion and communication. These measures have contributed to a safer, more organized, and more engaging work environment.

Positive ripple effects

The HSE jury justifies the winner as follows:

- It is the overall scope and extent described in the application that impressed us and led to the decision to choose IFT's application. Without a doubt, a significant effort has been made within the reservoir research group. We hope that the HSE award will contribute a little extra to continuing the good and systematic HSE work and that it will have a ripple effect across the rest of the department.

By integrating HSE into their research, teaching, and student activities, the Reservoir Physics group has demonstrated that a strong safety culture can complement and enhance scientific quality and collaboration. Congratulations, and well done!
